ELI MURPHY is the tallest and most vigorous daylily I have introduced. Definitely a back of the border plant, standing over 6' tall, and up to 7' tall, with 6 to 10 branches and 42 to 80 buds. This late to very late daylily blooms continuously for 7 to 10 weeks, with classically formed gold blooms with a red orange band. The scape diameter is huge, to hold up the stout scapes. In 5 years, 5 scapes out of about 100 have toppled during thunderstorms, all had nearly 80 blooms. Fertile both ways, breeds giants.

Murphy 08 6" L 37" Dormant diploid Reddish Lavender with lemon throat, lemon midrib, and purple eye. A Cascade Unusual Form that starts Late, fragrant, ext., with three branches and 17 buds. It is out of AFTER AWHILE CROCODILE by LOLA BRANHAM, and is fertile both ways. Good parent for lates in many colors.

Murphy, '05 - 48" EERe 6.75" dor.dip. Narrow, 3.98:1 blooms, red, with darker watermark, green heart. Very long bloom with instant rebloom.

Red with a darker red watermark, gold throat, green heart. There are very few dormant reds that bloom EE. This great flower just misses the spider ratio at 3.98:1. With instant rebloom, this is in bloom for 7 weeks, blooming June 2 - July 21st last year. It rebloomed in November too!

(Murphy 09) 34" EMre 6.5" Sev Tet Cascade UF

A wonderful feathered raspberry eye on a peachy cream background, completed by an orange throat. This long blooming cultivar has 4-way branching with 21 buds, perfect for shows. Very hardy here, out of ISLE OF DREAMS by WILD HORSES. It is fertile, and a good parent for cascades with eyes. Large single fans or possibly small double fans.

This 8" clear yellow twisted crispate has a very green throat, radiating out onto the petals in two distinct lines, and halfway up the stamens. The blooms are sunfast, rainfast, heatfast (100 degrees), and wind resistant. It blooms fast and furious, with 3 branches, 18 buds, and instant rebloom. Midlate, fragrant, dormant diploid, proliferations and dark green foliage. Very fertile.

Yes, many people have hit hard times in the past two years. I decided to introduce this $100 daylily for half of that, because it grows very fast and it will let some of us buy it that maybe shouldn’t otherwise. In addition, if you purchase a $50 plant from us this season, you will get this in addition to another bonus. This very tall reddish lavender has a purple eye, cream edge, chartreuse throat, and instant rebloom, for a long season, starting one month after peak and going until mid September here. It is an EMO/CMO, good for cool nights and is sunfast at 98F.  Parentage unknown, but probably PLANET MAX and a seedling.  Fertile.

This lavender pink cascade with chartreuse and apricot throat has cream midribs and a thin cream edge.  The spectacular part of this plant is below the blooms.  It has blue-green foliage, strong scapes, 5-way branching, 31 buds per scape.  It is out of MARGO REED INDEED X NORTHWIND DANCER.  It is very fertile, and a good parent for clear colors.

This very tall, very sturdy plant held up to the ravages of Hurricane Isabel this year. It is a lavender and creamy lavender bitone with a huge yellow throat, grass green heart, and reddish purple eyezone. Striking in the garden because of its stature and modern form. It conservatively carries 2 branches with a terminal Y, and 21 buds. I have grown this plant to 68" and 4 way branching with extra water and fertilizer. It is right on the border of being classified a spider at 4.0:1. Many plants this tall have weak scapes, not this one.

Truly a breakthrough plant. Clear Pink, and starts blooming as late as any cultivar that I know of. It will bloom alone in most gardens, in late August, September, and October. Clear Pink, cream edge, ruffled and creped, with a rounded recurved form, sometimes triangular. Four branches and 21 buds, held perfectly above the foliage on strong scapes. Yes, I admit it, another yellow cascade. This one has some big merits. Clearest lemon, with very green throat, ruffles, EMO, Extended. It has excellent 4 way branching, with 22 buds on strong scapes. Very fragrant, very close to a spider at 3.9875/1. Fertile, out of SUNNY SON by SPIDER MIRACLE. Good grower.

Huge, lavender spider with a darker lavender band. Waxy green throat, changing to yellow on petals. Diamond-dusted blooms, with excellent 3 - 4 way branching, and 16 - 22 buds. Extra-beautiful dormant blue-green foliage. Fertile.

Murphy, '04 - 44" Emre 5.5" Dor. Dip. Narrow Yellow dotted with brownish purple dots. Green throat, very different look, and finally back in stock.

This is the supreme gardener's plant, with the best foliage, good scapes, perfect flowers, and very vigorous growth. The flowers are unique, the base color being dark yellow, but with large areas of the petals having hundreds of purple to brown dots. The sepals are edged in the same dots. These are regular, consistent patterns. The edges are ruffled. The green throat sets off the colors well. The scapes are slender and strong, and there is instant rebloom here, making for a long season. There are two branches and a terminal Y, with 24 buds, on average. This plant is unique and will not be mistaken for another. Parentage unknown.

LUCKY STREAK has been watched carefully since its first bloom. It is the stark contrast between the cascading reddish purple petals and the white of both the midrib and edge that attracts all the attention. Wide semi arching foliage, and surprisingly fragrant. This EMO is sun resistant, but not sunfast on extreme days. Great parentage from AFTER AWHILE CROCODILE by PLANET MAX, with 2 branches, and 18 buds, it has a surprisingly long bloom season, and is fertile both ways.

Murphy, '04 - 39" Mre 7.5" semi.dip.frag. Cream to yellow cream with ruffled light edge, green throat, UF. Has proven to be an excellent parent for cream and light lemon very large kids.

The large cream to yellow cream flowers are set off by a green throat, and ruffled lighter edge. In full bloom this is a show stopper. The tall scapes are top branched with 2 branches on average, and 15 buds. It has instant rebloom, so it blooms for a long time with blooms at perfect height above the blue green foliage. It is completely sunfast on 95 degree days. It is not a spider, with a 3.1:1 ratio. I registered this spidery looking flower as an unusual form crispate. The petals pinch slightly and the sepals curl. It is a borderline UF, which in no way detracts from the look of the flower.

Huge, 9" yellow to melon spider blooms with lavender-red eye and waxy green throat. Blooms mid-late with sunfast, twirling blooms with ruffled edge. An early morning opener (EMO), two branches, 20 buds, and beautiful, narrow, blue-green foliage. Fertile and reblooming.

Murphy, '04 - 28" MLaRe 7.5" semi.dip. Shocking cream-white cascade UF, ruffled edge. Award winner, long blooming. Superlative parent.

When I walked out of the house on July 12, 2000 to do my hybridizing, I was shocked, then got goosebumps. I knew that this flower was THE ONE. I was so excited that I left work early that day to see how it looked and to take photos. The next day, about 5 people were as excited as me. I was going to name it something cool with snow in the name. Margo asked me to name it for her. Actually, didn't ask ... It is a very light creamy pink on cool mornings. Most days, and all hot days, it is a cream white. The edge is very ruffled and whiter than the petals. The throat is chartreuse to green. I registered it conservatively with 3 branches and 19 buds. It can have many more with good culture. The scapes come up at different times, ensuring a long bloom season. It does some rebloom two weeks later. The parents are some of the best for ruffles and late bloom. It is a good parent. It proliferates heavily, down in the foliage. Two minor faults - it blooms just at the top of the foliage and sometimes has too many buds on the scapes to allow them to open freely.

MAXIMUM WARP has great big red spider blooms on a well branched scape, with ample bud count. It is a midseason bloomer with striking red blooms, huge gold throat, green center, and gold midribs. This tall, 5:1 spider ahs wide, arching, attractive green foliage. Fertile both ways, but pod difficult. 4 branches, 27 buds.

Murphy, '05 - 49" EM 8" dor.dip. Huge creamy beige, striking purple band, green throat, long bloom period. Bud builder extraordinaire, can bloom for 80 days. One of the best parents of my introductions. Limited, despite fast growth.

Huge creamy beige blooms have a striking purple band on the petals, bisected by a cream midrib. Green throat, tall scapes, extended bloom, and fragrance help this flower to spell winner. This cultivar bloomed longer in the garden on original scapes than any other due to bud building. It bloomed from late June to late September this year. Three way plus branching and 26 or more buds, up to 45. Out of GREY WITCH, so expect fast growth. Named for the Indian trail, now Highway 29, near us. Pollen parent initially registered as unknown, but believed to be MARGO REED INDEED.
