Murphy 2011 45”  EMRE 7.5” SEV Diploid Twisted Crispate Unusual Form

Aptly named for its absolute vigor and re-bloom here, this buff yellow with lavender red eye and green throat seems to always be in bloom. The petals and sepals twist and sometimes pinch, and it is very fragrant. It has two branches, terminal Y, and 26 buds, with moderate bud building. Out of SORAYA SELINE by HELGA BJORNERUD BURKEY.  Murphy 2011    37"  M  6"  Dormant Diploid Bicolor Cascade Unusual Form

This red, yellow, and cream bicolor with cream midribs and green throat displays a very complex color pattern. On hot days, like its parents SANTAS PANTS and COMPLICATED, the edge bleaches to white, contrasting greatly with the complex red petals. This cultivar has the highest branching and bud-count of any of this series; 3 branches and 19 buds in average conditions and up to 5 branches in excellent conditions. It is very close to a spider, has blue green foliage, and is easily fertile both ways, passing on the complex color patterns. Hard dormant.

40"  MLRE  6"  Dormant Diploid Cascade Unusual Form

A gorgeous blend of rose, pink and red with green throat and cream midribs.  Registered with 5 way branching and 26 buds, it bud builds and can have 7 way branching and 40 buds. Out of LUCKY STREAK by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY, fertile, and blooms until very late season, with some re-bloom in September.  Noticed for years by visitors under the garden name "LuckyKMB".

Murphy 2010 41” M  7” SEV  Tetraploid Cascade Unusual Form

Thank you to Glenn Pollock for pushing me to introduce this one since its maiden bloom. It has proven to be remarkably visible in the garden, due to the tall scapes, bright orange color and striking, feathered reddish purple eye. It has colors matching Virginia Tech’s colors – blasphemy!, here near UVA! 3 branches and 18 buds, that bloom long and slow, for a long season. Sun-fast, out of (ISLE OF DREAMS x TET CORAL CRAB)  X FISH FACE.  Unique genetics make this great garden plant also a hybridizer’s tool. Pollen fertile and pod possible.  ONLY 2 PLANTS AVAILABLE.

 Murphy 2011 39"  MLRe  6"  dormant diploid cascade unusual form

A sunfast lavender and raspberry with lemon cream throat and a ruffled cream edge. I went back and forth with whether it is raspberry or lavender and finally decided it is both. Registered with 3 branches and 18 buds, but more under good conditions, it also reliably re-blooms for us in September. Pollen Fertile, Pod Possible, out of MARGO REED INDEED by NORTH WIND DANCER.
