(Murphy 2012)   59" Late 9"  Dormant  Diploid  Cascade  UF

I thought about naming this one "stately", because it is very tall, and every bloom is perfect. The cherry red blooms are somewhat wide for a cascade, and reflexed, and have a striking cream midrib. The tepals are ruffled and creped, and have a green throat. A bud builder, with a long bloom season, strong scapes, and promiscuously fertile. Two branches and 20 buds.  Sunfast at 97F, wide open at 9pm. Out of (AFTER AWHILE CROCODILE) X ( EGGPLANT ESCAPADE x EGGPLANT ECSTASY)

(Murphy 2011) 53"  ML  6.5"   Dormant  Diploid  Cascade  UF

This is actually a 2011 summer intro that was a gift plant for attendees of the Region 3 Summer Meeting. I did not have enough to introduce it for sale until now. This large light gold cascade with lighter midribs is diamond dusted, and outfacing, important for tall ones. The spent blooms and buds are also gold, making it a pleasing back of the border plant.  Out of (SUNNY SON x JERSEY JIM) x (LUNA) , and is fertile, and tough. 2 branches, 18 buds, 100% sunfast.

(Murphy 2012)   44"  VL  7"  SEV  Diploid

This dark red star is named in honor of Fred Benzinger, who was a mentor to many in this area. It is out of two late Benzinger seedlings, and carries a lot of those famous Benzinger characteristics of  toughness, good scapes, and carefree culture.  It is somewhat old fashioned looking up close, but from a distance is one of the best reds in the garden, with yellow throat, yellow midribs, and lots of blooms.  5 branches, 34 buds, strong bud-builder, very sun-resistant, and in bloom until September. Very fertile and a good parent for very late reds.

(Murphy 2012)    36" ML   6.5" Dormant  Diploid  Spider

An apt name for this brilliantly colored cherry red spider with a crimson star next to its yellow throat. As saturated a color as I have in the garden, EMO, and sunfast at 100F. I selected through this entire cross of 100 for blacks and reds that were completely sunfast and this was the result. One or two branches and 20 buds, with moderate budbuilding let this one bloom for about 6 weeks. Out of EGGPLANT ESCAPADE  by CHIEF BLACK HAND.   Fertile.

( Murphy 2012)    46"  Late  6.5"  Dormant  Diploid  Cascade

If you name a daylily to honor your mother, it better be good, and this one is. It is a ruffled lavender cascade Unusual Form with an apricot throat and lemon midribs. One of the best branched cultivars that I have introduced, registered with 6 branches (and up to 8), and 32 buds. It blooms a long time, very late into the season and is a moderate budbuilder. Completely sunfast at 101F and is still open and perfect at 930pm. Out of MARGO REED INDEED by NORTH WIND DANCER.  (Exceptional parentage)  Pollen fertile and pod difficult.

(Murphy 2012)   45" ML   7"  Dormant  Diploid  Cascade

When you look out across the selected seedling bed, you ask what is that one with the green throat?  The green really  make this rose pink, recurved cascade Unusual Form stand alone. It is very recurved and blooms as long as any other in our garden due to strong bud building. It has yellow midribs, is fertile, sun resistant, and showy. 2 branches, 19 buds, sometimes more. Out of MAGIC OF OZ by NORTH WIND DANCER- superlative parentage.  Fertile both ways.

(Murphy 2012)    48" Very Late  5.5"  Dormant  Diploid  Cascade

This wide, very recurved bright red has a narrow cream edge, white midrib, and yellow green throat with green heart. It is held tall on strong scapes with 2 branches and 22 buds, and is a moderate budbuilder. It blooms in latest July, August and September here.  Out of ( AFTER  AWHILE CROCODILE x WHEN I DREAM) x( BARNEGAT LIGHT).  It is moderately sunfast, and fertile both ways. In the very late garden, it was Margo's and many others' favorite plant.

(Murphy 2012) 45" Late  9"  Dormant  Diploid  Fragrant  Spider

I consider this to be my best offering in several years, not only because of the grace and beauty, but performance as well. This lavender cream reverse bitone spider has lavender edged sepals, and faces out, toward you.  It is a narrow, 5.6/1 ratio spider, but doesn't look it.  2 branches, 19 buds. It is my best bud builder, going until frost some years. It is sunfast at 95, perfect at 9pm, rain resistant, and blooms up to 10 weeks. One of my best parents ever, but only pollen fertile. This will sell out, so order soon. Out of JELLYFISH JEALOUSY by NORTH WIND DANCER.
