GNARLY GNOME
$20.00 |
Reed, 2006 - 52" Mla 6" dor. Dip. Unusual form, pink with rose eye, quilled sepals sculpting GNARLY GNOME has been affectionately known as "Scrunchy" for several years (garden name). A personal favorite, it is tall, well branched, and is a consistent unusual form (pinched and quilled crispate). The colors are soft - ancient pink shades with a cream throat. Its outstanding feature is the form - the sepals pinch and quill, and the petals "scrunch" a little near the throat. Definitely unusual, especially at its height |

GREAT DISMAL SWAMP
$100.00 |
(Reed, 2013) 38” MLa 8” dormant, diploid. Unusual form cascade. Named for one of my favorite wild areas, this one is as strange and spooky as the name implies. The color is an elusive grayed lavender blend with a green throat. The bloom cascades in graceful curls, and throws polys often enough to be fun but I’m not committing to a percentage. It has 3 branches and 14 buds, and is pollen and pod fertile. Parentage unknown. Double fans |

HARDWARE RIVER
$20.00 SOLD OUT |
Reed, 2006 - 30" La 6.5" dor.dip. Unusual form spatulate, clear red HARDWARE RIVER may not be a very poetic name, but it is a lovely mountain stream that runs through out property, and on to the James River and Chesapeake Bay. It usually has very clear water, except after storms. The daylily of the same name has exceptionally clear red color. Not very tall by our standards, it has extremely good branching and bud count, and displays the blooms nicely. It may be a spatulate - open in the white throat, and widening out onto the ruffled petals, showing lots of color. The buds begin to open the day before and show ruffles early. |

The out-facing, cascading blooms are not subtle. The branching and size come directly from the parents: Parentage: PLANET MAX X CRYSTALLINE ENTITY. Double fans |

ICE WATER
$150.00 SOLD OUT |
(Reed, 2007) 36” M 6.5” dormant diploid Unusual Form-Cascade I was so excited when this bloomed that I registered it immediately. I was sure it would be an introduction. After a couple of years of letting it multiply, it is ready! The bloom is a pale-lavender, almost translucent, white. The throat is cream. It presents as a very curly cascade, on 4- and 5-way branched scapes. I have seen as many as 6 blooms open on one scape. It is different from so many flat whites, in that it looks carved out of ice. Pod and pollen fertile. One of my best. |

JUST JESSIE
$100.00 |
40" MRe 7.5" dormant diploid, extended. Unusual form, cascade. This light pink-cream with a bright rose-purple feathered eye is tall, well-branched (3-4 way) with lots of buds. It has an extended bloom season, and often reblooms. It is a CMO, open on cold mornings, and has good substance even late at night. It stands up through 90-100 degree days and rain. It is consistently showy and dependable. It is named after Jessie Cohen, a daylily friend who had a great garden and gave me much encouragement and support. It is a great pollen parent (but hard to set seeds as a pod parent), passing on the eye and great plant habits to many seedlings. Probably out of Flight of Orchids. ONLY 2 PLANTS TO SELL. |

MISS ELLENEOUS
$25.00 |
(Reed, ’09) 50” MLa 8” dor.dip.ext. Unusual Form – pinched crispate (very consistent). Large, late, tall, and pinkish. This bloom has size, form, substance, presence, and personality. The color is muted pink, with a large yellow-cream throat (green deep in the throat). The sepals quill and curl and the petals are ruffled. Parentage unknown, this has been a favorite garden flower for the late season for some time. Scapes are erect and the bud count is just adequate (around 12). Difficult pod parent. Really nice dancing in the late garden! It is a bud builder still in bloom at the end of August. Actual budcount is higher with good culture. Special Price- it grows fast! |

MONOCACY SUMMER MIST
Display Only |
Reed, 2006 - 42" EM 7" dor.dip. UF/cascade Soft cream yellow, dusted rose huge eye This distinctive bloom is a soft cream yellow, mostly obscured by the large pattern of stippled rose eye, outlining a very intense green throat. The form is a ruffled, gentle cascade. This seedling, out of Lola Branham, spent a couple of summers near the Monocacy River in Maryland with a friend, while I moved to Virginia. Couldn't be left behind forever! Very different. Fertile both ways. |
