Murphy, 07 - 39" MRe 6" dor. Dip. Spider - Cherry red, cream edge

I am very proud to introduce this cultivar. It is cherry red with a tan edge in the morning, and as the day gets hot, the midribs and edge bleach to a striking cream. The bloom remains very sunfast, with a chartreuse throat. I registered it with 2 branches and 12 buds, but this fall, it rebloomed with up to 4 branches and 25 buds. The third image is on a cold day in October. It is related to Candy Cane Dreams, and a sibling to several of my light edged reds. Good grower, fertile.

(Reed, 09) 36" M 6" dormant, diploid. Ext.

Rich orchid purple, with great ruffles, this daylily has a big splash of a feathered darker purple eye, and some white in the throat. It has good branching (2 to 3-way) and bud count of 15-20. It blooms over a long season and is somewhat variable in form, hence was not registered as an unusual form, unlike its sibling FLIGHT OF ORCHIDS. It is sometimes a pinched crispate, other times a relaxed exotic form, or close to a cascade. The color carries across the garden. It is easily fertile both ways. One parent was an unusual form Jack Carpenter seedling.

Murphy, '05 - 44" MLaRe 5.5" dor.dip. Sunfast purple, black watermark, tiny white edge, yellow throat.

Purple blooms with a black watermark, and a tiny white edge, yellow throat, green heart. This completely sunfast purple has TRAHLYTA as a grandparent, and looks different at 6PM than at 7AM. It starts out purple with a black eye, and changes to greyed purple with a black watermark later in the day. Clayton Burkey, and other hybridizers agreed on its selection on 90F+ afternoons. It blooms a long time, with 2 branches, 19 buds, and rebloom. Hard dormant.

(Reed, 2010)  38”  M  6”  dormant, diploid  Unusual Form-Cascade

This stunning pink/rose/cream pattern is a curling cascade form.  Named in memory of a young girl, a town in North Carolina, or a race car designer;  I guess we’ll never know (or all three). The background color ranges from a creamy pink to almost white, and the dark rose-pink eye slips way out on the petals.  It has a green throat.  It is out of PEACOCK CURLS X HEAVENLY CURLS, a cross that has given many interesting variations.   Pod and pollen fertile.

Murphy, '05 - 30" Vla 5.5" dor.dip. Greyish brown, purple eye, yellow ribs, fast growing, late &unique.

Greyish Brown petals, and sepals, purplish red eye, yellow midribs, prominent veins on petals, orange and yellow throat. This plant was selected for its unique color pattern, perfect foliage, and fast increase, as well as late bloom. There is nothing like it at mid season, much less very late season. It has slender, yet strong scapes with 17+ buds. The name comes from the color of the petals, as well as a more tongue in cheek meaning. Out of a Benziger seedling by TROPICAL DEPRESSION, it has TRAHLYTA in the background and does color change to some extent.

This distinctive blackish red colored spider has a darker patterned watermark, yellow midribs, and striking chartreuse patterned throat. Sunfast, period. This starts blooming after SANDRA ELIZABETH and blooms for up to 2 months due to 4 way branching and 26 buds. Image of SNOWBOARDING SNOWBOARDING
$25.00

Reed, 2005 - 40' Mla 8" dor.dip.ext. Big flat ruffled white with substance

SNOWBOARDING features white blooms that are large, ruffled, and fairly flat that show off well in the garden. This is a slow growing plant (we've waited a few years for enough stock to introduce) but it has great plant habits - good foliage, 3-way branching, and around 15-18 buds. Not nearly as recurved as GLACIAL EPOCH, each petal is shaped more like a snowboard. Good substance. Fertile
