Cream to near white with green throat. Green to cream stamens, ruffled edge. This is the closest to white daylily that I have registered. Out of over 100 near whites here, only 5 are whiter. They are all examples from the Stuart Kendig white evaluation group, as very white, or class 2. This blooms a very long time, with 3 branches and 23 buds in good garden conditions. The petal surfaces are slightly ridged, and the tepals are ruffled. Sunfast, fertile, excellent parent. I have very white seedlings out of this and Lipizzaner Stallions.

Screaming red with bright green throat, and just a touch of cream midribs showing. Cool dark red stamens. Very long blooming on first scapes, and with some rebloom here through late season. 3 branches and 24 buds in good conditions. Fertile both ways. It has deep green arching foliage all season here.

Complicated colors of pewter lavender with green throat blending to cream white throat, that extends onto tepals. Lavender cream pattern edged purple. Veined and ruffled. Distinction in flower pattern and form makes this one unique in the garden. There is no question that this is Imperial Topaz and it will not get mistaken for another flower! Absolutely wacky and interesting children. Fertile both ways. Blooms long and slow, not all at once, and reblooms well here, especially in August and September. 1 branch and 12 buds in marginal conditions.

Cream with extremely variable blue eye, usually etched in violet. Sometimes patterned with charcoal, blue, lavender. Not registered as a poly, it exhibits 20% poly on first scapes and 40% on second scapes under good conditions. 2 branches and 18 buds on small plants, better on a clump. Janice Wood asked me to name this for her after seeing many different images. She has those piercing blue eyes, as you may have noticed.
I am introducing this at a high price and as a hybridizer-only plant for several reasons. It is glacially slow to increase. It passes on amazing attributes to its kids and grandchildren. It has pattern, poly, and rebloom genes that express in different combinations. I have at least 25 seedlings under evaluation from it. It also, with the right parent, has very vigorous children. It took me 5 years to get about 12 plants, and most are already spoken for. It increased maybe at a 2/1 rate in good conditions, and our average is 5/1.

My sister selected this one from over 2000 possibilities. Very contrasting color combination and views well from 50 feet away. Yellow with stark red eye. The form is variable from triangular to elongated to borderline cascade. Almost completely sunfast here. Blooms a long time. Fertile both ways.

Purple to black with muted black band. Green to cream throat with cream midribs and very narrow white edge on petals. Blooms heavily for about 3 weeks here. Very sunfast for one so dark, thanks to its parentage. Two of its parents were selected for being sunfast at 90F. Fertile both ways with many interesting purple kids. 3 branches and 21 buds in good conditions.

Eye catching black-red-purple with very large, elongated green throat. The black intensifies further out towards the petal tips. This plant is visible from a long distance due to the distinctive color contrast. Quite sunfast. 2 branches and 16 buds but can have more with good culture. Fertile both ways and an impressive parent. I have several future intros from it.
Named for our good daylily friend from Keysville, Va. Louise saw this in a flower show where it won Best Seedling, then loved it in our garden. Bill Hurt and I agree that Louise is one of the true daylily ambassadors in our region.

Beguiling combination of cream with a lavender blue eye etched in violet. White midribs split the eye. Ruffled petal edges. This is an up-close daylily - you want to look carefully to enjoy the combination of colors and pattern. 2 branches and 16 buds grown under a big maple tree. Fertile both ways. I have many future intros with this one in the parentage.

Lemon cream with a jagged red black eye. Light green throat. The scapes are among the sturdiest that I have ever seen on a diploid. A really excellent contrast in colors coupled with a bloom habit that allows blooms to open up and down the scapes. Heavily branched and budded. 4 branches and 27 buds. In 2023, I have a plant with 6 branches. Excellent Parent with a future intro for 2024.
Named for the former Light House near the current town of Stingray Point on the Chesapeake Bay at the eastern terminus of Route 33. The original name came from colonial times. Captain John Smith was stung by and seriously injured by a Cownose Ray at this location. He was tended to by a Native American healer who used a specific salt mud poultice to help his injury. The area got its name after this occurrence.
